A complete overhaul for Moofwd! Not only have I created new branding for Moofwd, but a new website as well. Once again, the website is based on WordPress as a CMS, but this time I went responsive (try resizing your browser)… that means that it’ll flex to fit massive screens, or itty bitty Android or iPhone screens, iPad (and everything in between). Touch gestures even work on the slider! JavaScript is non-obtrusive. —  all major site elements work even on old browsers. No more updating separate websites for web, phones and tablets!

With hooks into the legacy systems educational institutions have already invested in, Mooestro provides an elegant way to mash-up these internal systems such as SAP, Oracle and Moodle, with cloud based resources and services to create custom mobile applications.

The Mooestro approach allows the IT departments within educational institutions to mobilize the education experience while leveraging all of their existing IT investments and device environments. Mooestro applications run natively on all leading smartphone and tablet devices, delivering an easy to use compelling experience for the mobile devices that students, educators and staff already have.

The “ready-made” app I designed comes included with the platform. The included apps allow institutions to populate their platform with tangible content and make the end user experience instant, secure, and more productive. The app features LMS integration, access to secure applications like finance records, enrollment records, and any other sensitive information, announcements, RSS feeds, messaging, emergency management, grades, locations and maps, phone directories, course information and library search. A repository of images, icons and backgrounds allows the institution to further customize the Mooestro-built app to their specific look and feel.

The demo app will be available soon in iPhone, Andorid and Blackberry app stores.

Created in Adobe Illustrator, these 9′ retractable banner stands can each stand alone or be assembled in any combination to create a larger presentation. Created for healthcare-centric trade shows, they feature the company’s “Care manager” mobile app and topics concerning the importance of mobile applications to healthcare in general.

A print brochure explains device and system fragmentation issues in the healthcare industry and proposes a mobile application platform as the solution. I was responsible for all aspects including vector illustration, photo correction, layout and copywriting.

Excerpt from the brochure:

“The U.S. Healthcare industry labors in an environment of clinical and economic ineciency. Stakeholder fragmentation, duplication of services and unnecessary utilization contribute to the spiraling cost of care and the unevenness of clinical quality. Through various technology solutions (the Electronic Medical Record, Practice Management System, the Health Information Exchange among them) and with middling success the healthcare industry has attempted to remove the information gaps and silos that contribute to poor clinical quality and excess utilization.

The industry requires a clinical information architecture that captures, normalizes and shares clinical data from multiple sources – the hospital department, the physician oce, the lab, the pharmacy – and distributes that data, in real time, to each member of a patient’s care team. Further, the architecture must support bilateral communication between team members, must comply with HIPAA privacy and security regulations, and must be interoperable with a variety of mobile devices.”

While this mobile website is a bit outdated (it’s been replaced with a responsive site!), this is still a good example of a standard mobile website.  This is the xhtml mobile version of Moofwd’s website, designed especially for viewing on all smartphone devices. It features a drop-down menu that is easy to navigate on a touchscreen. The JavaScript Twitter implementation dynamically pulls the company’s latest Tweets onto the website. The header images clicks through to Moofwd’s latest news update. When a user visit’s Moofwd’s website on a mobile device, a bit of JavaScript will automatically direct him or her to this mobile optimized version.

Mooestro’s website is based on WordPress as a CMS (content management system). It features a jQuery slider on the homepage that supports unlimited images and videos, as well as dynamic Twitter and Facebook updates and a lightbox photo system.  A blog is integrated for articles and news updates (it is WordPress, of course) and a it also features a video gallery.

Due to the products large customer base in Chile, the Spanish version of the site is localized for the company’s Spanish speaking audiences. however, the Spanish site can also be accesses from the English site for US-based Spanish speaking customers.

I can’t say much about the project at this moment – it’s still in “stealth mode” . However, I can say that I designed the logo, it’s an education product and I am also involved in the mobile and web development.
